Online Switching Sites beware

Hi Folks
Just in case somebody hasn't noticed these online sites can only be used as a rough guide. Found the figures the sites have used for my current energy contract are not accurate so any results will be flawed. Also found this the case with insurance. Surprising when checking direct with the provider how quotes can differ not always to your benefit.

It may be a bit more work but would suggest double check direct with provider to be certain of all figures before any switching.

  • I try to maximise accuracy by giving their comparison engines a yearly KwH figure. No single quarter spending amounts for them to draw wrong conclusions from.

As above. Using annual kWh figures will give accurate results. Monthly DD figures will not, because then each site makes different assumptions about your actual usage.

  • But I want a free laptop!

Then that is because what you currently pay monthly does not represent what you actually use anually-probably because your account is either in credit or debit and so your DD is consequently lower or higher than one twelfth of your actual usage.
Use annual kWh figures and the results are accurate.
