Bought a Toshiba Laptop back in 2008 it has windows vista service pack 1. Tonight I reset it to factory settings. I loathe IE but other half is insistent it's needed:mad:
Whenever we open IE, that delightful "IE has stopped working" comes on the screen then it closes:mad::mad::mad:
So settle an argument before I toss both laptop and OH out the window can I uninstall IE and install firefox? Will this slow computer down?
Thanks

You can have both IE and Firefox on the computer, that will save your arguments and bring a level of peace to your household.
While you can remove IE8 or later from a Vista computer, even when you do that it will revert to IE7, because that is an integral part of Vista. Just leave it in there and set Firefox, Chrome or some other browser as your default.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

What is the full model number of the Toshiba?
You can give the PS***-****** details at the bottom of the machine.0
