Implications of fixed contract

Hi

I'm currently on Npowers standard electric tariff and want to take a fixed contract to protect me against the imminent price rise from them.

The property I'm in I will be moving out of July/Aug 2014. What implications will this have as I would be cancelling the contract as such unless I moved it too a new property?

Can anyone help please?

Thank You

  • When youre talking to them about fixing just ask them the question. Some will charge a cancellation fee for any reason, some may stipulate that you cant take the tariff with you to a new address and some might tell u in advance a home move will close down the tariff with no penalties. Really depends on their t&c's. Tom

Hate to quote Martin again but one of the answers he gave today is that you can probably take your contract to your new address.

There is no question to ask. Moving house voids your existing contract without penalty, regardless of tariff.

And yet sometimes they will let you move the tariff over if you switch to them. So maybe there is a question to ask.
