how to import file into a chosen program?

rubbish question but i need to know,when i am using a program and i need to import a file from my pc to the program i locate the file and press open but nothing happens,it opens the file and shows content but it does not show in the program i am using, its driving me mad,can anyone help please.:mad:

right click on file, open with, choose program, tick always open with. The file type has to be compatible with the app to workEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
