Edinburgh for Ruby Wedding

We're hoping to celebrate our Ruby Wedding in Edinburgh next year. We had a big do for our Silver Wedding. Don't want another. The plan so far is for me and the missus to go by train up to Glasgow then to Malaig and back to Edinburgh on the Friday to meet friends and family. We will stay 3 nights there, though I expect many people may need to go back Sunday. We are looking for a city centre hotel, not too far out. At least one up from Travel Lodge and Premier Inn, but not too expensive to put people off. There are 12 confirmed so far but it could be nearer 20. I'm going to take them on a bar crawl on the Friday round some of the real ale pubs. Saturday night we're going to have a nice meal somewhere so I'm looking for a restaurant that anyone can recommend that can accommodate us. Thanks in advance

Are you planning to do Glasgow-Mallaig-Edinburgh in one day??? That's quite ambitious0

For such a special occassion, it's worth checking out The Witchery, right by the castle. If that's too expensive, I like The Living Room at the bottom of George Street, or Chaophraya for the Wow factor. It has a roof top restaurant that gives fantastic views all over the city.

Blue 264, thanks very much for the restaurant link. Both mine and my son's favourite food. The set menu looks very tempting. I don't need to look any further. For such a special occassion, it's worth checking out The Witchery, right by the castle. For a similar family event we used The Point which is good quality and convenient for grassmarket and the royal mile. Cost IIRC was about £100 per double pernight, and breakfast was very nice0
