Has anyone any experience with Kaupthing Isle of Man's Kaupthing Edge euro account? It says the fee is EUR45 for a SWIFT payment - anyone know any ways to reduce the charges (does it still cost that for Euro transfers within the UK?)0
-
I also have a Kaupthing Edge IOM account (euro, $, and £). It would appear from the charges that you are right about the 45 euro charge which seems high compared to $35 for USD transfers, seeing as both are made using SWIFT.
I also have a Citibank euro current account and recently made a SEPA transfer to a european bank account of someone else - charge free.
I wish Kaupthing would get onboard the SEPA thing, but so far it seems they haven't. I think this may be because IOM is not part of the EU and so aren't part of the system.
PS - I've never made a transfer to/from the Kaupthing euro account so can't confirm an actual transfer.0 -
I use a Nationwide Current Account , , its cheaper way of sending money0

Ive read this forum but am still a bit confused regarding sending money overseas. I was wondering if anyone could help me re sending a larger amount of money to australia. I have been advised by a friend to use moneybookers but is this the best option? How do they compare say, to a money transfer at a bank.0

Hello
I have to send 380 euros to Portugal, and was wondering what the cheapest way to do this is.
If I pay with a CC an automatic fee of 3% is added, making the charge about £8.91. (this is even if I use a Nationwide CC)
The other option I have been given is to pay by a Euro Cheque, however, I am not familiar with these.
Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to get one, and how they work, or of any other options available to me (I cannot send a BACS payment or use Paypal)
Thanks,
TANUKI0 -

Hi Jayd, we have had some experiance in sending money abroad, the best option we found to be currency exchange brokers, there are many of them, contacting 2 or 3 is probably the best bet so you get the lowest rate while making them fight against each other to give you good service.
I believe my husband searched for compare foreign currency and came up with, suprisingly enough compareforeigncurrency.com who were able to send our details to a good currency broker who we found to be very helpful.0 -

Hi,
We have just recently sold our property in Spain :T
We have approx 100k to be transferred back to the UK, but no idea what is the best way to maximise the exchange rate. We have Halifax account in the UK and Spain which allow free transfers from UK to Spain, but nothing the other way.
Any ideas would be most welcome,
Thanks,
