Home solution Shop have now finished ripping out our old bathroom and installing our new one. We are delighted with the finished job. It is functional, exceptionally easy to clean but above all else the finish by the tradesmen is superb.

What is really obvious is the way things like edgings and silicone sealants have been used to give everything a really tidy appearance.

There were one or two hiccups out of their control. Things to do with the construction of the house which weren't visible until the old bathroom was stripped out. In the words of the plumber however; these things happen and there's no point in whinging about them, you just apply the proper solution to the job, even if it takes a little longer. The finished product is what matters.

The owner of HSS was in our home at least twice a day whilst the job was ongoing to ensure the tradesmen were doing what they were supposed to do and to check with us that the work was being done to our satisfaction. Nothing was fitted until its position had been discussed with us and one or two changes were made to the design which helped it flow better and be more functional.

We haven't been asked for a penny yet other than the £2,000 deposit. we know it's going to cost a few hundred more than the original price because of changes made to some of the features and because of the unexpected layout of the central heating pipes which had to be altered but when he does give me the final price I'll be up to him with cash on the same day.

There's no way we would use any other company for work in our home now that we've seen what the HSS can do on such a big important job. We're very happy with the work B&Q did in replacing our kitchen but know we'd have had the same job done, possibly with an even better finish, for at least £1,000 less if we'd used HSS.

Another NI member has also been in touch by PM to tell me of a similar experience with HSS. He is also delighted.

    Thank you GlynD.

It is always good to know of a reliable and efficient firm such as this. I have no plans in the immediate future for any major work, but I have now added this company to my list of contacts. Good to know that they finish things off properly and also that the "boss" calls in personally to make sure things are gong to plan and everyone is happy.

One of the things that really bugs me these days with some tradesmen, is lack of reliability/punctuality. Nothing worse than sitting in for hours waiting for tradesmen, only for them not to turn up.

One of the things that really bugs me these days with some tradesmen, is lack of reliability/punctuality. Nothing worse than sitting in for hours waiting for tradesmen, only for them not to turn up.

In this case all the tradesmen turned up exactly at the time the boss said they'd be there. No dawdling or arriving even 10 or 15 minutes after. If he said 8.30am they'd be sitting outside the house at 8.25am and would ring the bell at exactly half past.

Not only that but we found all the tradesmen to be friendly and affable. We like that. We can't stand paying for people to come into our home to be grumpy and unco-operative with us.

We found out too that the tiler who was scheduled to do the job in our bathroom was unavoidably detained on another job. This wasn't apparent to us because an experienced tiler turned up at the correct time and did it, and what a fantastic tradesman he was, as well as being a great guy. He and his son are largely responsible for the superb finish on our bathroom. You'll appreciate that a good tiling job is so important when it's a floor to ceiling operation?

The amount of preparation time these guys took beforehand to ensure the walls and floor were even and they explained to us what they were doing and why they were doing it, which is a first for us.

It's only a little bathroom, so small we had to get rid of the bath to put in a good sized shower cabinet, but you should see the tile finish, honestly. It's superb. I've found myself just standing in the middle of the floor looking at it with satisfaction. Not one tile out of place or uneven.
