TFT monitor problem

Options
Hi

I bought a TFT monitor (17" Dell E173FP 3 year on site) for £134 + £11.49 p&p from Aria last week, it was delivered immediately but as soon as I connected it to my PC (uses Windows 98 SE), I noticed a kind of continuous wobble/flicker on the screen, I called Aria who have suggested I call their technical support (which turns out to be a 0906 number!!)....can anyone suggest what may be the problem and possible courses of action??

Thanks so much

install the driver sent with your monitor and then right click on desktop, properties, settings and check the refresh rate is running at the optimum setting for the monitor.. 'should' say in the manual what it's best to run it at

Failing that (although it does sound like the refresh rate is low), search for Aria in SayNoTo0870 and try the number it comes up with (0161 248 1600 - option2).

TFT doesnt have refresh rates, they work on entirely different principles to CRT's.

Does the TFT have an auto adjust button to set it up for optimum settings?

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

My Iiyama H430 reports that it is running at 80kHz and 75Hz on its OSD. It certainly seems to know what its refresh rate is!

Granted TFTs dont scan quite like CRTs do, but the graphics card is sending a screen out to the monitor every 1/75 of a second and the monitor is displaying it.

i doubt tech support will tell you anything that hasnt been said her, make sure you got the correct drivers, and set the monitor up as per manual...

the user guide has a trouble shooting -> http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E173FP/English/trouble.htm worth looking there is a section called "Shaky/Jittery Video"??

  • Are you using magnetically shielded speakers on your pc ? . If not this may make the screen wobble.
