I have searched planning applications http://publicaccess.northumberland.gov.uk/online-applications/propertyDetails.do?activeTab=relatedCases&keyVal=KX68PQQS04O00 and can't see one for the cameras - would someone with a bit more experience in this area here be able to check this please?

Your best bet is to email the council planning department. Be warned though - permission for ANPR is a grey area - Brighton and Hove Council don't consider it necessary to apply for permission if the cameras are on your own land, only cover your own land ( plus a small extra outside the entrance ) and are smaller than a certain size. The local Aldi wriggled out of it on these points when I reported their cameras !

some misunderstanding here on the nature of the planning issue I've raised.

The inital approved application to build the new store includes condition 12 which states that the car park management scheme must include use by motorists visiting the town centre who are not foodstore customers.

The pending application is to discharge that condition but they've gone ahead and errected the signage anyway (although they 'may' not yet be issuing tickets).

At another location I had some queries on errection of signage and cameras dismissed as they'd been placed on existing poles.
