Car Hire / Rental

Hi
The gearbox on my car has decided to break and i cannot get it repaired until next week now.
I was going to hire/rent a car from Enterprise until it is sorted.
Will this hire car be insurance by Enterprise or will i have to get extra insurance for the next week?
Or does anyone know if an Esure comprehensive policy cover hire cars?
Thanks

I would imagine any car hire covered by Esure is only provided in the event of a claim on your insurance for either theft or repair (after an accident).

Also I think Enterprise are pretty expensive, might be worth looking for a smaller local car hire firm as they are likely to be much cheaper. So long as you’re conscientious and go over the car with a fine toothed comb before you hire you should be ok and will probably save a packet.

Either way, the hire company usually cover the insurance with optional extras to reduce the excess in event of a claim.
  • Hi
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I was just going to hire a car and not go through my insurance company.
I was wondering if i'd be insured using my existing policy or if i would need to take out extra for the time i'm hiring? Or will the hire company provide this?

The car hire company will include insurance for you.

(Check the excess as you may want to pay extra to reduce it)
  • Thank you, that is what i was hoping!
At least i don't have to have to hassle of speaking with Esure!.
    Thanks again

If your car has broken down you wouldn’t need to anyway, car insurance is for fire, theft and accidents, not to cover you for your car breaking down.

It is worth taking out an annual insurance policy for car hire excess.
Then if they try to charge you for a puncture or similar you won't have to pay their inflated charges.

pay extra to reduce the excess does to £0 for any damages, will garantee you dont get any funny business on returning the vehicle and put the blame on you for the silliest of scratches that you would not be able to spot.
