with the First Direct credit card. Usually pay off in full if I do use the card, but last month missed my payment date due to being upset..completely slipped my mind as I was attending funeral and was emotionally upset.
Ive never paid a bank charge in my whole life. I accept the charge as it was my fault...will it be recorded on my credit file? thanks.

How late was your payment? or did you miss it altogether?
FD are able to record the fact that you missed the payment/paid late but they may not if you paid not long after. It might be worth contacing them to agree to set up a DD for future and ask if they will agree not to record an entry on your file.
That said if this is a single missed payment on your credit file and everything else is always paid on time then it unlikely to have much of an impact after a few months.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Unfortunately yes. Set-up a direct debit to avoid a reoccurence in the future.0
