Neighbor gas meter in my property ? To lock or not?
Hi
Last sunday my neighbors upstairs were having domestic issues that involves screaming, shouting, and throwing things around. This went on for like 10-20 minutes, but to me it felt too long.
I was worried that i was about to send the message to landlord . Thank god i didn't.
The walls are thin and i can hear them. I though of calling the police. In hindsight, it would have been a bad idea.
I'm only moved in August and never interacted with the male partner. I have only spoken to the lady once, where she seem nice. She held my broadband package for me .
I was scared and didn't know what to do. Calling the police could have made things worst.
The man was screamer, swearing etc .
I clearly don't know them.
What would you do ?
Call the police
Mind your business
Close your eyes and pretend you're deaf.
This morning I just got a note stuck on the door saying i shouldn't lock the door as their gas meter is in ground floor.
When i come home at night , around 9.30 pm. I lock the door. Last night, there was a lot of noise from door slamming .
What am i suppose to do ? Not lock doors, because somebody might come at night time to look at their gas meter .

noise and shouting would depend if you want to get involved. You could try turning the tv up to full volume to send a hint! The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0

So you are locking a shared entrance door ?
What does this have to do with their noise ?
Two issues surely ?
I assume you are renting ....is it a letting agent or do you deal with or the landlord direct ?
Why couldn't you just go and talk to them about the locked door issue ? If you can get the landlord to say that for insurance purposes the exterior door needs to be locked that may solve your problem (or even tell them that YOUR insurance says it needs to be locked at night-it probably does anyway).
If they haven't been noisy until now and you've lived there since August it sounds like they may be going through a bad patch rather than row continuously though. One row in three months doesn't sound like a massive issue especially if it only lasted ten minutes.though........just a fact of life living in a flat-you hear more.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Not really. Can you not lock the entrance door to your flat? Personally if I could not lock the neighbours out of my flat/room I wouldn't be taking the flat in the first place and I'd be moving out ASAP.Their gas meter is in the ground floor and their is only one door access. My entrance is their entrance . is that clear ?:footie:
