    sorry,yes £1660 a year currently ,it would be £234 extra a year if we went with edf fixed for 4 years....just wondering if it would be worth it in the long run as 234 is alot of money!

    £234 is a premium of 14% over £1660.

    You have to guess how much extra you will pay(in the red!) before you start saving(in the black!) and how much you will have saved by the end of the 4 year fix.

    Have you checked if another company might be a better bet? You need to enter your kWh(not £1660) into a comparison website.

    Please tell us your kWh usage on each fuel. ££'s tell us nothing.
    No one knows if it will be 'worth it'. You are not necessarily buying a cheaper tariff with a long term fix, you are buying an insurance policy against a possibly more expensive one.
    So, expensive peace of mind vs a cheaper gamble. Your choice.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Well with Scottish Power fixed to March 31 2015 that consumption(in the Midlands) would cost £1588. see:
