Account switch from Santander to Lloyds

Hi all

My dads currently in the process of switching accounts from Santander to Lloyds, his Santander account is due to close on the 22nd.

He is due to receive a Bank Giro Credit to his santander account on or around that date, he has been informed by Lloyds that it will be fine as any activity on his old account will simply just happen on his new Lloyds account (So the Bank Giro to Santander will appear in his Lloyds accont?)

Ive never heard of this before so am abit confused, can anyone confirm the above service actually exists and if it will be ok with a bank giro credit?

If your dad used the official switcher process, then yes, any incoming payments to his Santander account will automatically be redirected to his new Lloyds account after the switching date.

Sorry to hi jack your thread, but does anyone know what happens with a cheque and the switching service? I've used the Halifax switching service to swap my Barclays direct debit account for the £100. Only prob is I wrote a cheque few weeks ago that still hasn't cleared this account! My switch date is aprox 24th. If the cheque is presented after this date will it be redirected to Halifax? Many thanks
