Duel Fuel Costs?
A bit of a query to see if people are in the same situation as us? We are currently at the end of a cheap deal with Scottish Power and needing to switch however we seem to be paying an excessive amount. We live in a 3 bedroom semi detatched house and there are 4 adults. According to the switch the cheapest we can get it is £292 a month!
We have a gas fire, combi boiler, washer, dryer etc the usual culprits but on the website it lists a high user as £1600 a year and we pay more than double that!
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Presumably because you are heavily in arrears? Based on £1,600 pa your DD should be £133pm. It has been hiked to recover the debt.
Use your actual annual kWh usage on the comps sites-using your monthly DD figure does not give accurate results.
But if you are currently on a cheap fix then, yes, any new tariff will be more expensive.
Average cost is around £1350 for a dual fuel property with gas CH and DHW, so you need to work out why your consumption is so high.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi that was using the kWh readings. We spoke to the customer service guy and he said ours was the highest readings he has seen for electricity. They are coming to check whether the meter is faulty. Gas is apparently average use so why the electric one is so high is a bit of a mystery. Thanks for the advice0

So what is your annual gas kWh usage?
Are you being billed on the correct meter type (metric or imperial meter)? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi jadelois, we seem to be similar to yourself - 3 bed semi, 4 adults. Gas central heating & cooker. Heating on a couple of hours each day from October then about 7 hours each day from later Nov. Switched off from April. Electrical stuff switched off when not in use, nothing outrageous which would eat the power. We pay £209 per month. It's becoming a bit of a struggle, I have to admit. I hope you find something cheaper, soon:)0
