Advice re a Lenovo G700 laptop please

We have Argos gift vouchers to use and I was wondering if this laptop would be worth the money.

It will be for a 14 year old, will be used for homework and watching YouTube gaming vids, Skype etc.

I thought for the price difference it would be worth going for a 17" screen.

She doesn't play games (except she would prob start playing Minecraft on it instead of the xbox).

I would suggest go for standard 15.6".
17.3" is quite heavy.

For £400, personally would get AMD A8 APU.

The OP asks for a 17.3" screen and you reject it, telling her it's heavy??
Did she suggest that weight was an issue?

Weight won't be a problem, she won't be taking it out of the house .

I did look at the others, inc the ones above but as well as the screens being smaller I don't think the specs are as good are they?

No, as she will only be using it at home the weight isn't an issue.

I just thought if I was her age I would love a laptop with a huge screen.

At the minute she is using a 7" tablet or my Aspire One netbook!

It's quite average in terms of specification.

Personally I wouldn't for £400. I would hold out for something better and get a Desktop with a huge screen instead.

I think she would prefer a laptop so she can take it on holiday, to grandmas etc or connect it to the tv and watch vids on that screen.

It's really not an amazing machine. How much do you have in the way of vouchers?

£120 in vouchers from a max budget of £400 so if we don't buy one from Argos it will be £280 available to spend elsewhere.

As you can imagine, £280 17" screen laptops may be scarce.

So whilst the Lenovo is unexciting, it might be your only choice.
