Council parking ticket for parking on a verge?
Saeed
I got a parking ticket today from the council for parking on a 'verge/island'. I was not obstructing the pavement. The ticket says 'Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours' which is incorrect.
Is the ticket valid? Can I appeal as it says 'Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours' which is incorrect?

Can you appeal? Yes.
Should you appeal? If you don't mind the charge increasing to £70 if you lose then yes.
Probably need a photo of where the vehicle was parked (and any relevant signage pertaining to that area) before we can advise on whether you have a cast-iron case.

Think you are "guilty as charged", I am afraid, but that doesn't stop you appealing. pepipoo are the real experts on council parking, so try there as well.0

Yellow lines are double sided, they always cover to the nearest clearly defined boundary, parking the other side is no different to parking road side unfortunately.
Your only chance is if the ticket is non compliant.Be happy...;)0 -

Same advice as this case from yesterday:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4794395
except that you are 'bang to rights' in contravention of the double yellows and that poster's black Fiesta wasn't.
The good news is that the ticket is indeed non-compliant (but do look for other grounds of appeal as well). You can probably appeal this successfully if you take it all the way to adjudication. One point for your appeals will be that the PCN fails to state the applicable amount because it fails to state the amount of the discount.*
* Please no replies telling me it does say 50% (I know!). Take it to pepipoo:

They will help you at all stages of your appeal but you must forget the discount bribe. It's all or nothing with the odds in your favour. The contravention is NOT incorrect as you are in breach of the DYL which cover the whole width of carriageway, pavement, verge and all (both sides of the lines). You may just as well have parked on the double yellows, the breach is the same where you were parked!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
