Help with claiming on terminal illness cover

Christ on a bike a terminally ill person "trying it on" are you for real?0

Thank you all for your responses, looks like a lively debate.
I am normally a balanced person and like to see both sides of any story. Of course, I am finding it more difficult here because of the very emotive issue I am dealing with and the huge implications for us of Aviva's decision. Also I fail to see how Aviva can dispute what has been written to them.
If the claim is paid it gives us many more choices such as my husband being able to give up work and focus on the things that really matter.
I am also an honest person and Have posted honestly. I hope that no-one was implying that our claim was fake, believe me this is not something that anyone would want to make up.
I am so grateful to posters who have shared their stories, given their views and given really helpful advice. All advice and suggestions gratefully received!0 -

Anyone who has been in this position knows that wrangling over insurance is the opposite of the peace of mind insurance is supposed to provide and that the added stress is not helpful to the ill person's condition, so I'm very sorry to see what you're going through. The difficulty with terminal illness cover is not only the difficult judgment involved in determining life expectancy, but also the definition doesn't even make clear what measure of probability the insurers go by. Is survival more than 50% unlikely or 90% unlikely??
Posting updates on progress here would be my best bet for making Aviva feel the spotlight of publicity with least diversion of your own energies, as thankfully their social media team realise the importance of not only doing the right thing, but also being seen to do the right thing. If they have a good reason to back their opinion, then it should stand up to public scrutiny. If not, they know the impact on future sales.
Also, though of course no help for the present, but thinking about yourself in the worst case scenario of the pay-out coming too late for your husband, it's worth checking that if it's then payable on death instead, that you are the joint owner of the policy or are both beneficiary AND trustee of the policy so there's no reason for further delay which would insult to injury.
Best wishes to you both at this difficult time.0
