Aqua Credit Card

Hi guys, first post here!

So approx 1 week ago i applied for one of the high APR Aqua credit cards in an attempt to help build/repair my credit history.

The inital online application said that further checks would need to be done and that i'd hear something back through the post. Well yesterday i recieved a letter with my new PIN for my Aqua credit card. However i havent receieved a credit agreement nor have i recieved a card.

Then this afteroon i've receieved an automated email from Aqua advertising Noddles credit rating website, the emails starts off with:

"We are sorry we weren’t able to offer you an aqua card recently. However, we would like to invite you to sign up for aqua Credit Checker, giving you free unlimited access to your credit report, powered by Noddle."

Has anyone experienced this before? Have i been accepted or declined. I'm confused! :p

Phone them up and ask. PINs precede cards, so it's either an incorrect email or your application has been rechecked and declined for some reason.

    I suspect the former.

The fact you have received a PIN would tend to suggest that you had been accepted. However the other matters suggest you have been declined.

Why don't you try phoning and asking them?

    Hi all,

I applied for an Aqua credit card online, purely as back up for a trip to India (planning to use debit card for payments), I too got a message online saying they would have to make more checks, got a new pin on Monday, got a new Aqua card today and also got a letter stating they were closing my account following another risk review, I rung customer services to request an explanation and told I need to write to head office, I believe I now hold the record for the shortest credit card account.......

I believe that is still held by a Barclarcard customer, who actually received the "Sorry you have been unsuccessful" letter the day before they received the card. Needless to say, they were confused. They rang up and were told the account was closed after further checks were made. The day after, they received the PIN for the card, just to rub more salt in the wound.

With the small limits and high interest that the Aqua card has, there must be better back up options.

A pre paid credit card for instance,

is a better option surely, for a trip to somewhere like India than this card.

Personally, I'd have a debit card, a couple of back up cards and also leave some money behind with someone to do a money transfer via Western Union or similar service, for an emergency before making such a trip.
  • ^ have to agree,

I applied online and got instant approval, always paid more that the minimum payment even overpaid no signs of limit increase and when i asked they told me to get lost and try again in six months.

for a measly 250 limit, it's not worth the search. Plus i am now with Barclay Card 24.9% apr BT 0% for 18 months, instant 1200 limit with a possible increase in 6 months. On their site the card i have is with an average credit history so to have sub-prime cards does work.

For the record i have 4 CC
Vanquis £1500 limit increase from £500
Cap one £500 limit again no increase from them when asked
    Barclay Card £1200
    Aqua £250

I am now planning to rid of the sub-prime cards and keep one credit card.

atm my acceptance chances for an Amex is 20% from 6 months ago which was 0%. I recon in 6 months time the chances will be 50-60%
