No Standing Charge Tariffs ?

Does anyone know of any suppliers that still offer NSC tariffs ?

I'm current on Scottish Powers 'Platinum Fixed price Energy January 2014 v2 online NSC' (a mouthfull, I know). As we use a low amount of energy, NSC has always worked out cheaper for us.

Our existing tariff ends on 31st Jan, so need to wait until then to switch to avoid £60 of exit fees, and I guess a lot of the "good" deals will be gone by then :undecided

Considered SPs Fixed Energy January 2017 tariff (no charge to switch to another SP tariff), as it fixes our tariff for 3 years... but it's considerably more expensive - and there's £50 of exit fees on that one, should the tariffs ever go down :rotfl:

Rock / hard place, eh ?

Ebico and Utilities Warehouse. Scottish Power still offer nsc on some tariffs.

Write a letter of complaint to Ofgem et al.

nPower's Price Fix April 2015 also has no standing charge if you pay by direct debit.

Scottish Power offer 6 tariffs right now and all of them have standing charges for both gas and electricity.

Thanks. How do you get the NSC tariffs to show up on, either their direct sites, or on comparison / cashback sites ?

I guess though, considering the exit fees I'd be better off waiting until January to switch, albeit who knows what will be on offer then ?

I doubt you can. The comparison website should provide details of each tariff though, so I suppose you could go down the list until you find one without a standing charge. Might take a while though. :p

I literally cannot find ANY NSC tariffs :-/ I guess it'll be much of a muchness, will just go with whatever deal works out best when considering contract length, exit fees, cashbacks, duel fuel / single fuels, etc.

Ugh. I HATE energy companies. If I had the money, I'd get one of those wood fired boilers installed that also generates electricity, and sell it back to the bu**ers ! :D

I wouldn't recomend the Scottish Power tariff, though - last time I drilled around trying to find it it turned out that they were charging 25p for tier 1 electricity. The Shape of Things to Co^h^h^h^h Already Here.

    Yeah we're currently on:

    £0.233 inc vat for 1st 225kWh/quarter
    £0.118 inc vat thereafter

    and for gas

    £0.0723 inc vat for 1st 670 kWh/quarter
    £0.0311 thereafter

Think if I called SP and said I'm going to leave unless you let me stay on this tariff until the apocalypse, they'd let me ? :D

The standing charge can be zero(0 pence per day) like Ebico.

Have you read the previous posts?

Ebico and Utilities warehouse both have tariffs that have no daily standing charge (i.e. where the daily standing charge is 0.0p)

Also look at nPower. They do actually have a daily standing charge, but also offer a discount if you pay by direct debit, that will cover the cost of that daily standing charge.

Scottish Power still have NSC tariffs available to existing customers, but I'm not sure if they are available to new cusrtomers. Have you bothered to check?

Anyway, why are you so interested in getting a tariff with no daily standing charge? Surely the cheapest supplier & tariff is what most people would be seeking. Use a comparison site to find out what that is for you, and you may want to consider fixed/capped tariff too, again details available via a comparison site..
