Hi Folks,
I have done the comparison sites but im still confused. I have been with british gas for as long as i can remember on the standard tarif, I guess I just got "comfortable" with them. The largest saving is coming up with confused.com and its first utility fixed until 2015 with a £30 exit fee for both gas and electricity. Ive never heard of first utility, is there anything I should look into before switching?

I have already done that, first utility is coming up again but less of a saving £73 a year, confused comes up at £143 a year for the same company0

Lots of billing and CS issues with FU, do a forum search. Their initials may be a clue...
But whatever you do, do something. Standard is the most expensive tariff, however 'comfortable' it might be. And it's now going up another 9.2%.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thank you for your replies, so am I better to go with one of the larger companies. Another one that came up was OVO again i have never heard of them?0

in some respects i suppose you get what you pay for, the smaller energy companies generally are the cheapest and if everything goes alright your laughing all he way to the bank. If everything isn't perfect, due to the smaller size they may not be as available or helpful.
There are forum discussions / feedback channels on here that could help you decide.
I would also strongly suggest switching to another tariff, Standard tariffs are expensive and offer no protection from price rises0 -

Whoever you use, it's the same energy, same wires, same pipes. All that changes is the billing, customer service-and price.
OVO have been around for a few years now.No free lunch, and no free laptop
