This really annoys me and its about time I fixed it.

The pop-up tooltips that give a 'description' whenever the mouse is hovered over a link or icon etc.

Best way to disable? XP pro please.

Word - Create and edit text and graphics in letters, reports, Web pages, or e-mail messages by using Microsoft Word.

WMP - Plays local and streaming Windows Media files, and many other audio and video formats.

The most annoying one is when on these forums and you hover the mouse over a topic and it pops-up a big silly yellow box containing all the text in the first post.

Go to Control Panel, open Folder Options, click the View tab, scroll to the bottom, uncheck 'Show Pop-up Description (blah blah blah), click Apply, Click OK. All done :D

Wish it was that easy, it does actualy turn pop-ups off for desktop icons but thats about it. It doesnt do anything for quick launch toolbar or http pages.

Wonder if tweakui does it? It must be a M$ thing......

yep its the browser, each browser can render the on hover info, its stored in what i believe is an alt html tag not sure you can turn off that in the browsers.

I'll try Tweakui in a mo.

I just did this - right-clicked Windows media player, clicked the 'shortcut' tab, then deleted the comment, clicked Apply then OK. The pop-up has gone.

I hate stuff on the desktop and I only have 5 things in the quicklauch bar thing and I've deleted the comments in those so I don't know if this'll work - open Tweakui, click Taskbar, uncheck 'enable ballon tips', apply, ok.

    Does this work?
