Is this normal for Virgin credit card?

Applied for a Virgin credit card on the 2nd. Called today for status and automated system told me something along the lines of "all our applications are looked at by financial experts and we expect to make a decision on your application within 3 days" - is that a standard message does anyone know? I ask because the online application was approved instantly and it showed my credit limit on the screen etc. so I'm not sure why they need to make a decision now?

If they've approved you immediately and given you a credit limit then I don't think it'll be a problem.
I think the problem here is that the automated telephone system is badly worded, on the assumption that the only people phoning in to check if they've been accepted are people who've been referred.0 -
When I applied, I was accepted and shown my credit limit on the screen.
I'm surprised you still haven't got any further welcome pack/card from them. I'm pretty sure mine arrived within 3 - 5 days.
Virgin are in transition at the moment, having split for MBNA who backed their card for years, so I guess processing could be taking longer.
I believe whenever people are accepted for cards, it is a provisional decision, based on the information that has been given by the applicant and a quick search of credit file/s.
There is always the chance though that they still leave a period where final checks are made.
Whatever happens, do update the thread as it will be useful to know, particularly if you don't get a card.0 -
Thank you both. Funnily enough I actually got an approval email at 12:47am! I wish they would have sent a confirmation email to say I had applied initially, because I began to think maybe I had imagined it.
Still, all is well, just a big backlog I suppose?
