Should I Fix if I'm about to move

There is a small chance I will be moving house soon (it looks like it's about to fall through, but who knows). Anyway my Scottish Power fixed period has just ended so I know I need to find a new deal asap, but I'm worried it will tie me into a contract and then if I do move I'll have to pay some kind of penalty?
Any advice would be great!
