Gmail defaulting to basic HTML

it should only default to HTML if it finds a slow connection or for some reason it thinks your on a mobile phone.
you got any add ons to your browser ? (i.e. to change the header to access location dependent sites?)

Must admit I hate the new log in screen. I only want to access my mail not all the other stuff0

i've got a direct browser to the "inbox" so i only get hit with a login page every 2 weeks or so when the login times out.
new pages does not bother me much ^_^
Oh and i keep an eye on the "connected IP's" to make sure i'm the only one connecting..Laters

Using another browser is not a solution.
Strictly speaking, if it solves the problem, it is.
It doesn't explain why the browser you otherwise use has a behavioural change but seeing as there could be 100 reasons and millions of software and hardware combinations then nobody is going to be able to debug that remotely, just too complicated, time-absorbing and thankless. However someone might try.
The suggestion of trying another browser is a good one - if nothing else it has massive diagnostic value.0 -
I've sometimes had to try and work out how to force Gmail to display in HTML (even when it didn't detect a slow connection) and it was equally obscure and annoying. In the end it seemed down to saving a specific URL link.0
