Thanks again
It is OK I am still learning. I have become quite sceptical about funds and fund managers basically since Neil Woodford said he wanted to resign causing people to sell up out of the investment trust he was managing.
If everyone did the cheap tracker route all the fund managers would be down the dole queue !0 -

With EFTs are you always investing in actual assets or bets, gambles, promises in some cases?
Cheap trackers have their place."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Yes I think some are synthetic especially the very high risk ones such as sugar and cattle and the fact sheet even tells you.
MIDD The FTSE 250 tracker I use is not synthetic and holds all the index shares.0 -

Bought both of these 18 months ago. Good market timing I say, though as much luck as judgement. The IP fund has performed far better, though neither has done badly on the basis of a rising tide lifting all boats. The newton fund is languishing near the bottom of its sector and I'm considering moving currently.0 -

I have both too. The Newton one has gone off the boil but I wonder if shares any common stuff with the Asian Income Fund which is also down.
Newton was an IFA recommendation from an IFA to a family member earlier this year for diversification.#
I will hold awhile longer."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Agree.
