Help with cost of level 5 diploma health and social care

Options
Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can get funding or loan for Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. I work in the right environment but my boss is a little tight and won't pay for the course. I'm a father of 3 young boys, married, am entitled to tax credits, and I'm 31 years old.

go to the turn to us website - there are all sorts of grants available to people...

also look at the student section of this website as there are other ' search engines' to use to look for grants - there may be something there. Speak with the course provider they may be able to point you in the direction of where you could get support...

How much is the fee, and would it be savable vy next September (assuming that is the next iuntake)

Have you looked at the OU health and social care modules - they may fit the bill of what you wish to achieve (and they HAD some OK wyas to pay historically), or is the specific qualification required for something?

    good luck.

You can apply for the over 24 loan for the Level 5 in Health and Social Care. This works a bit like a student loan and you only repay it when/if you earn over 21k a year.

There are no credit checks for the loan, all you need to do is apply for the loan via a training provider. Most will be able to offer this funding now. I completed mine with T2 Group but lots of providers will be able to help.

The other option is via the skills for care workforce development fund. You can claim back a certain amount of money for each unit completed. The downside of this is that you will have to pay the money up front and your employer will probably need to apply for this fund so you will need to ensure that they will then pass this money to you.

If it was me I would go for the first option, even when you earn over 21k, the repayments are only 9% of what you earn over that figure. So if you earn 22k, you will pay back £90 yr which will only be £7.50 coming out of your salary each month.

The information for the 24+ loan says quite specifically that it's for level 3 and 4 courses only.

Is there some kind of loophole that covers this level 5 course?
