Hi Eddie
I was also on the EDF Blue April 2014 and have just fixed (yesterday!) with Scottish Power until 2015. Martin's latest email has some good info about it and a comparison tool, it's worth a look.

I did this yesterday online in my account section. They give you an illustration before you accept of what your bills will be.
My direct debits have gone up £7 for gas and £10 for electric each month.
I had six months to go on the last fix like you, but considering the rises that are predicted I thought it worth doing now.early retirement wannabe0 -

Have YOU actually calculated what your annual bill will be?? rather than depending on EDF's doubtful direct debit figures.
I ask because the 2017 fix vs April 2014 fix would cost me ~ £440 per year more! ie more than double your increase!:)0 -
I too am on the same tariff until April 2014
I decided to fix until 2015 with EDF and see how the land lies, it seems a bit silly to pay nearly £300 pounds a year more from now as I will be losing out for the next six months by paying £17 pounds a month more, this way I pay £2 a month more and always have the option to leave without penalties0 -
I have my figures for the last year, 2699kwhr of electric and 22,531kwhr of gas.
do i just type these into the the comparison websites and take it from there?
thanks0 -
Despite my username I am also on the EDF April 2014 fix.
I have no intention of switching as :-
I paid over the odds to start with, so surely I would negate most of any savings by switching now?
As soon as the tariff ends, hopefully the warmer weather means I wont be using as much and will have plenty of time to think about my options from May 2014 onwards.
With Labour promising a price freeze as an election bribe, I expect the Tories to come up with something better next year.
Personally, you are on a very good deal now. Why not enjoy your old gamble this winter?0 -
Im thinking of sticking where i am but am currently on hold to EDF and was going to ask if i sign up for one of the fixes if i can retain my current rate until it finishes, worst they can say is no!0

just off the phone, yeah they said no. So i guess its catch 22 do i or dont i switch, i live in a very small village in NE Scotland where the winters can be quite harsh so im swaying towards staying where i am with the april 2014 tariff and redoing things in the spring but still not 100%0
