    I don't want to rain on your parade, but PE has form for failing to cancel the charge, even after being instructed to do so by their Principal.

    So I would drop PE a line with a copy of the e-mail from the landholder, and say you are looking forward to receiving confirmation that the charge has been cancelled.

    Hi 4consumerrights,

    Yes, I did. After zzzLazyDaisy's post above, I wrote to PE on 19th October asking them to confirm. A couple of days later, I received a letter from them dated 17th October (the same date that Workmans advised by email that they were rescinding the charge), simply saying that the charge had been cancelled and there was no outstanding payment due on the account.
