Legal rights to property after breakup?

Not sure if this is in the right place

I have recently split with my ex Gf of 10 years. we have 3 kids and lived in a rented council home.

The rent agreement was in her name.

She ended the relationship recently and i had to move out to my mothers with nothing, all the property the home remained with her, all appliances, furnishings etc. She has refused to let me take anything and i to be fair i dont want to take anything because of my kids i wouldnt take anything off them

However does anyone know if i have any legal rights to any of the property we have bought together or if i could get some sort of cash settlement.

she is now claiming all benefits and is earning twice what i am working full time.

I recently erected a fence with money from my family which cost £1000.

i have put money into the home, does anyone know if i am entitled to anything? i do have some receipts and the sofa was bought in my mothers name, again i wouldnt take anything would prefer cash to be honest??

cheers adam

I recently erected a fence with money from my family which cost £1000. can you prove that you used family money? did you write anything down with regards to repaying them did they pay for it or did they lend you the cash and you pay for it?
