Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish = spots

I bought some of this recently and it made my skin look glowing and clear at first and then all of a sudden I broke out in spots and I'm not usually prone to spots. Is this normal and should I persevere with it? I don't know if its just the exfoliation getting all the gunk out of my skin.

Also it still was giving me panda eyes and not removing all my eye make up when it says its an all in one cleanser.

  • I absolutely love it. I don't get panda eyes - I give them a good gentle rub with the cleanser and it brings everything off with the muslin cloth.

Spots could be due to the use of the cloth and opening your pores.
  • Thanks for your reply, I wonder if the spots will go eventually if I keep on using it? I have gone back to a simple cleanser and separate eye make up remover. Do you find the Liz Earle cost effective? Do you use the moisturiser too and do you find using the muslin cloths a faff (as that is something else I found). I wear black eyeliner and I find it still leaves me with panda eyes in a morning, maybe I am not doing it right.
  • I find the products last an age so yes, cost effective. You need to use the muslin clothes - that is the whole point!!! The cleanser is quite thick so the hot cloth will bring off all the dirt, makeup etc. I bought extra off ebay. No,not a faff.

I do the whole cleanse, tone moisturise and my skin is in really good condition.

Unless you are allergic to something in it then the only reason I would imagine for it to give you spots is because you aren't removing it properly. Perhaps if your makeup is quite heavy you should use an eye make up remover first, it removes mine no problem but it's quite light.

  • I may try and persevere with this then. Do you wash the muslin cloths with your towels or other washing?

Quite a few people are allergic to C & P. So do not rule that out. If the spots do not go away say in a week, then just stop using it.

Cleanse and polish won't remove all eye make up, they often point that out on qvc

The cloths I throw in with any hot wash I'm doing. Yes they go grey with age. Now and then I boil them up in a pan

I never understood why people think the cloths are a faff. I treat them as any other face cloth, use, rinse, leave to dry, change every few days
  • Towels helps you clearance
  • Its proabably a reaction the the mineral oil or fragrance, most likely the fragrance, dont keep using it, stop and let your skin clear and the try again, you'll soon know.
