Problems with Very.co.uk

Options
I'm hoping Im on the right board, if not please tell me as this is the first time posting.

I looking for advice on how to complain, what to do next re a problem I'm having with Very.co.uk.

I bought an item from there a year ago. I thought I was paying for it through Direct Debit, turns out it was on buy now pay later which also turns out to be a 'separate' account and not effected by DD.

On top of this I have not received paper statements.

On an item worth £399 they have now placed interest of £148 .

I went online 11 days after the £399 payment was apparently due. Which was when I first realised what had happened.

I called immediately and explained asking to just pay the £399 and for them to cancel the £148 explaining the above.

Since then (Sunday) I have been pushed from department to department. With an email today refusing to cancel the interest.

What should / can I do next?

Many thanks in advance.

Do you have other stuff from Very that you are paying for via direct debit?

If so, didn't you notice that the DD hadn't gone up after you had an extra £399 worth of goods added to your account?

If not, why didn't you notice that the DD wasn't being collected?
    :p
  • No because I wasn't paying by DD to start with, not until I bought the additional item.

Unfortunately with these bnpl deals if you don't pay off the amount before the end of the 'free' period, then you pay interest for the whole of the period that you have 'borrowed' the money.

Your only hope will be to show them that you were not advised of this.
I cannot imagine that working though. Sorry.

    What additional item?

If you weren't paying by direct debit to start with how were you paying? What value of items have you bought from them altogether and how much of that has been paid for?
