A broken finger wont stop you from working as a manual labourer. Poor example.

Stress surely stops you from doing any job you cant pick a chose when the stress comes on or is stopping you from going in as its the job you are getting a hard time at.

Speaking as someone who suffered from work related stress for a very long time, it can get to the point where you physically cant set foot through the door of that job, if you are being treated badly.

It does affect your entire life. Im not sure how I would have felt if I had had a job Id loved when I was in an awful job and had a great job alongside, but I do know of people who have been in two jobs, signed off for one and remained in the other, because its been one job causing the problems and the GP has made that clear to the second employer, that its not them.

Stress seems to be the new definition of "don't like my job much". Seems very common in places that pay full sick pay like the civil service.

Have you ever suffered from work related stress? If affected my life so badly that I changed career because of it.

And yes, some people might put stress or anxiety down on a fit note when they want a day off, but when you are suffering from stress to the point where you cant go to work because of your horrible working conditions, I can assure you, the very last thing I wanted was to take days off sick for the hell of it

I didnt like my job very much by the end of it, but that was down to how my employers treated me.

Some professions such as teaching, nursing, working in the voluntary sector have a very strong bullying culture, if you look on the site bullyonline, you'll read stories of just how bad some peoples lives got at work, my case study is on there.

Some people take the !!!!, many people dont.
  • Entirely possible to be unfit for one job but fit for another. Will going off sick solve anything? No, quite the opposite, it will wind the employer up even more.

What have you done to address the issues? Have you issued a grievance?

Because we now have Fit Notes, it is possible that someone can be OK for one job and not the other.

However, if the Fit Note says 'not fit for work', then the employer to whom you give it is likely to be mighty p'd off if you are seen in the other job.
