So with the pumpkins...This is what I do, can anyone add anything.

I always use a serated knife like a saw to do all cutting. A smooth knife slips and is harder to use.

I cut into the top of the pumpkin making sure the knife is at an angle so the lid does not fall in. I also don't cut a perfect circle, I cut a wedge in the back so its easy to put the lid back on the right way around.

Scoop out all the insides, and scrape the wall that the design is going on so it is thinner. than the other using a spoon. The thinner the wall the easier to cut a design into the pumpkin. Not too thin.

I print my design out from tinternet, and tape it onto the pumpkin. Then using a bradle, small screwdriver or other pointy thing I go around the edge of the design making loads of small holes so the design is transfered to the pumpkin. I then use a drywipe marker and draw along the dots so I can see the design I want to carve in.

When the design is drawn on the pumpkin I start carving, making sure I start cutting in an area that doesn't matter so I can get used to cutting it. I use a sawing action and take away small peices at a time so I dont slip and cut off an important bit.

When I have cut out the design, I try and neaten all the edges on the inside so I dont get straggly bits showing.

I usually use a tealight inside, but bought some cheap LED torch things so gonna try them. May also use coloured tissue paper to make the eyes glow red etc (DONT DO THIS IF USING A CANDLE!!!).

Anyone else add anything, do anything else or can think of anything I have forgotten?

Oh I do remember someone putting a whisk attachment (possibly on a drill), but maybe just an electric whisk, inside a pumpkin to get all the guts loosened quickly.....

Thought I was being really organised today. 4xFinest meal deals to reach £40 spend. Forgot 15% comes off wine so had to hold queue up whilst I grabbed 4 small bottles of wine. Apologised profusely to everyone. Everything went as expected, really pleased till I realised pp is capped at £10. I completely forgot & didn't lose out by much but annoyed with myself as I was trying to be too clever.

Did you have a man with a knowing look stood behind you?:)
