Help Please, Ticket seller trying to pull a fast one on me

I bought T in the Park tickets from ebay back in November (£200 for pair) to get them while they were still cheap. They're now going for £400+ per pair.

I e-mailed him to check up on the situation back in March and got this reply:
Hi Garry,

I'm afraid I don't have a ticketmaster confirmation - long gone from my inbox, I hope this isn't a problem - let me know,

Regards,

Gary

I wrote back a few days ago asking him what was happening since the tickets have now been dispatched.

He replied with this.
>Garry,

>I found out yesterday that the company I bought my tickets from
>Tickettout, went into administration owing upto 6,500 customers
>money amounting to £1.4m and will not be supplying tickets for T in
>the Park as they have ceased trading. Apparently this happened back
>in March and a Statement of proposal was issued last month. I am
>furious about this, it has left me nearly 2 grand out of pocket and
>in the position that I can’t provide the tickets that I have sold.
>I’m sorry but all I can do is offer to start refunding and claim
>back my money through my credit card company which will virtually
>bankrupt me..
>
>I would guess the only solution to get tickets would be from ebay
>again although I know they are selling for more than they were a few

His Feedback

His recently sold items

I'm thinking that it doesn't take a genius to work out that by telling me this he can take his pair of tickets and then sell them for £500.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I should proceed?

Don't know how to help you but in the last 30 days he's received £8,745.66 for goods worth about £3,500. (Good old goofbay!)

If he's been genuine and can't get the tickets he can definately afford to refund you!!

Have you not questioned him on why he is now saying it was bought throught tickettout, when before it was Ticketmaster?

I bet he isnt paying tax either..

He wouldnt make money on them if he bought via tickettout either.
    Be nice

Unless you are prepared to take this to small claims frankly I can't see what else you can do. You are well out of time for a paypal claim and the seller was breaching terms and conditions for selling items he could not supply within 30 days so he has stitched you up.

It's probably worth reporting him to ebay for any current auctions that breach terms and conditions, with any luck he will get suspended, it won't help you but it might make you feel better.

    This really, really sucks.

I'll give him an earful but I don't expect to get anywhere.

I think the only argument I have now is asking for interest. Using the bank charges calculator it comes to £9. Fantastic.

£250 down for trying to save a bit of cash.

You could try the small claims court route if he still is selling or does sell any tickets for this event. Just depends how far you want to push the matter.

So he's refunded you your original £200 then?
So your saying your £250 down because of the increase in prices for the tickets?

If so watch his auctions and if he tries to list T in the park tickets then win them (at whatever cost). And inform him you will be leaving informative neg feedbacks explaining what he has done unless he sends you your tickets for the original price.

If you think he may have another ebay account to offload them then save this search. He uses this text on all his auctions so may use it again on another ebay account.

Use the get sellers details option when the auction is live to confirm sellers are one and the same.

But he may just be telling you the truth

Nice idea, but be very careful that he does not report the buyer for feedback extortion - if you try this option, ALWAYS send by email, not eBay messaging system. They will not recognise any correspondence outside of the eBay messaging when it comes to disputes or member reports.

Hi everyone, thanks for the suggestions.

All correspondence is being sent by e-mail. I'm going to make him send me a cheque, and then hopefully get a bit of revenge by reporting him. I know that threatening him before I get any money will just make matters worse, as I can't think of anything that would force him to do otherwise.
