Can anyone tell me if any other suppliers support this type of set up.
Live in central Scotland, have 2 meters
one for domestic- at rate A
one for heaters/water- at rate B
I don't have cheap night rate
Rate B is charged lower 24 hrs.
Storage heaters just not delivery enough heat at times when suit.
Feel like I'm over a barrel with all this.
Scottish Power can only offer 2 deals with this
Standard or Fixed
Standing charge for standard is 26p per day
Fixed is 34p per day.
any advise welcomed.

We used to have Comfortplus several years ago and I wish we still had it, it made such a difference to the storage heaters.
Can I check one point with what you say? Do you keep your storage heaters switched on all the time, not just switching them on when you want heat? The storage heaters are usually controlled directly by Scottish Power and will store heat during the night and at some time (or times) during the day when SP think demand is low. We used to get a boost in the afternoon and more often during the weekends.
If you are switching the heaters off and on manually you will not be storing heat. They have to be switched on continually so that they can receive heat. Other forms of heating and hot water, including showers, will receive electricity at the reduced price 24 hours a day as long as they have been wired directly (no plugs) into the heaters/water meter circuit.
Sometimes I thought SP were giving too many boosts, so I would switch storage heaters off at certain times to save money.
It was more expensive than basic storage heating, but greatly improved comfort, and also economy of other day time heating/water.0 -
Thanks for your reply.
I have used these types of heaters since I have been a homeowner (18 yrs)
We do not get a boost from SP in afternoon
Only charged during the night, they do have a built in convector part which is available for use when the residual heat from charge is spent.
Because of the area I live in they only supply comfortplus control with Weathercall. not Economy7 or economy 10 type supply.
Think I would need a different meter configuration for 3 rates, don't think this is available to us in Central Scotland.
Just feel that Scottish Power have me trapped, Whole estate is electric heating so they must be making a bomb.
might get in touch and see if comfortplus with white meter is an option given that we have a radio teleswitch already so there should be no reason- in my view- why they cannot send a boost at other times ??
Maybe I am niave.
storage heaters just don't have the flexibility that my home requires, and to ensure my home is heated adequately would exceed the price I could afford to pay. Stuck !0
