If you are buying to sell for profit, you are running a business and need to declare it. If you are just getting rid of your own stuff that you no longer need or want you don't have to declare it afaik.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Not sure, but I would have thought you would need to notify them of any income.
From your 'signature' it appears that you are not just selling your own stuff...plus you appear to have an Ironing business.
Do you notify them of that income ?
Maybe you should register as a business before HMRC 'insist' you do it.0 -
Yes you have to declare it. Why on earth wouldn't you?Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0

Because you do not have to declare capital as income.
If you have personal possessions that you sell on ebay, you are converting one form of capital to another.
If this takes you over the non-exempt capital limits of savings, then yes, you need to inform them.
Otherwise, you do not.
Buying and selling - yes you do - and depending on what benefits you're on it may not be possible to do it legally.0 -

Because you may be on a non-means tested benefit!0 -
You are also very limited to what benefits you can claim if you are working more than 16 hours per week. With the baking, cosmetics, ironing and ebaying businesses you seem to be partaking in you can only claim working tax credits and housing/council tax benefit. Plus child benefits.0

Regularly selling items is counted as income. One of our Fraud referrals is paypal items paid into a bank account and no business declared - it is easy to verify and check exactly what someone is selling via their feedback oneBay - then we notify HMRC of undeclared earnings as they target sites like eBay. If it just selling a few items to make money to live on then it isn't a problemThese are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

There are some people who are self employed authors who wish they could make money like that!
Yes I would treat the eBay selling at that volume as self employed income. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
