Apprentice needs help to pay rent
Comments
-
2 of my daughters completed apprenticeships and both were paid nat min wage when they turned 19 and completed 1 year.
The apprentice 'National Minimum Wage' applies to all 16 to 18 year olds and to those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. If you reach age 19 and have completed the first year of your Apprenticeship your employer must pay you at least the 'full National Minimum Wage' rate for those aged 18 to 20.
It clearly says and/or. why did you just delete a word? to confuse the OP?0 -
From JC's link,
"for apprentices aged 19 and over, but in the first year of their apprenticeship: £2.68 per hour
Apprentices aged 19 or over who have completed one year of their apprenticeship are entitled to receive the national minimum wage rate applicable to their age."0 -

You are making a very galant effort of confusing the OP so i have no desire to take that from you.
I totally understand that you seem to be suffering from that 'Numpty syndrome' that is sometimes prevelant on these forums,( been known to have a dabble myself ,very rarely though:A).
.I will totally understand this time that you are maybe too preoccupied with trying to prove me wrong, and can't take the time out to apologise, so i will let it go this time as i don't like putting undue pressure on others. So i will wish you luck in your quest for the truth.0 -
Thanks to all for your replies. My son already knew the wage scale as stated by Poppie68. Also used the turn2us calculator and consequently spoke to the relevant district council and it seems he may well qualify for the shared accommodation rate. Yay! Thanks so much for your help.
POD, courses cost a lot of money whereas apprentices actually get paid making this option more attractive.0
