Getting My First Supplier

Hi there...
I've recently just bought a new-build house on the Help to Buy scheme. I'm currently waiting for it to be finished, but it should be in about 4 weeks, and so I'm starting to think about gas and electric suppliers. I've read that there are going to be price hikes so want to get in early to get my supply sorted, but I have no idea about which supplier to choose, how to find the best deal etc. I'll be living on my own and it's a small 3-bed semi.
I'm completely confused by it all!
If anyone can offer some help and advice to get the best deal that would be excellent.
Thanks!

The Builder/Developer of your new house will have already appointed a Gas/Elec supplier to supply the site, and the day you move in you have no choice but to use that supplier. ( Take the Gas, Elec & Water meter readings the day you move in and keep them safe for future reference )
Once you have registered with them you are free to Switch to any other supplier0 -
Thanks for the advice.
So, I guess I should get onto the developer / builder now to see which company they've selected.
I guess this means that I'm going to not be able to switch before the price hikes as the build isn't due to be completed until 8th November, and move-in date should be 2 weeks after that?
Thanks for tip about taking the meter readings - I wouldn't have thought to do that at all!0 -
Take photos of the meters too.0
