Does anyone know the sort of credit limits Tesco gives out?

Does anyone know what sort of credit limits Tesco puts on it's 18 month 0% card?

Basically I want to buy a car and stooze the balance.

I already have two credit cards, one aqua (reward card) with £500 limit and M&S with a 4K limit (no longer interest free).

Ideally I'd like 8 - 10K but don't really want to bother applying if the limits are nowhere near.

Both existing cards paid in full every month.

Thanks

Tesco do give credit limits in the region you mention.

Whether they'd give such a limit to you is a different matter.
  • Thanks.

I am aware that even if they do give out those limits that it doesn't mean I would be offered it, I just wanted to know what sort of regions they give to see whether to bother applying or not.

Tescos limit I would think range from £1500 to £5500 being around their maximum

    I got a 10k limit from tesco. I already have a 12k limit on MBNA and 9 k on Amex. That's on a 45k salary.
Make £10 a day challenge in Feb £325.82/£280
    March £78/£310
  • Thanks.

Maybe I will give it a go. I don't earn as much as you but have less credit. Or I could get my partner to apply who does earn in that region.

    Thanks for the replies everyone

Give it a go mate you never know...

Sometimes what you think you may get end up being completely off the scale high or even low to that matter.

Elcapitan, as you already have a mainstream card from M+S with a decent limit, you may want to ditch the low limit with sub-prime Aqua and try one of the soft searches such as Nationwide, Barclaycard or Fluid.
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)
  • Me and my partner both applied - they give you an estimated limit just before you fully submit your application (but after the credit check) and they were both £6.5k so we didn't bother going for it. We don't have any other large purchases to stooze and don't intend on applying for any more credit products for the next few months.

wiseshark - I only have the aqua card for the 3% cashback, I don't have any negatives on my credit file. I was under the impression that it wouldn't be seen as a sub prime card on my report, just another line of credit. I'm going to keep the M&S one as the vouchers come in handy.

I'm just after as much money for nothing as possible! My partner has a capital one card with a 10K limit that has either 0.5 or 1% cashback so we'll just buy the car on that probably.

I take it you've found a car dealer that will let you pay with a credit card without charging you a surcharge for doing so? Thats a rare find if so.

The circa 3% fee will be built in to the price if they have/do find such a dealer. ;)
