Does anyone have any experience of The Student Support Centre?

MY son's school have just distributed letters to children about the Student Support Centre, a home tuition scheme which the parents pay for and which is supposed to complement their in-school learning.
The school gets commission for each reply slip returned, regardless of whether the parents are interested, so the school is urging people to send the slips back in. The covering letter reassured parents that the school does not in any way endorse or recommend the product.
I was startled to hear on You and Yours on Radio 4 that this is a profit-making company charging up to £4,000 per course and tying people into long contracts with no get-out. This can't be right, can it?! How much commission would the school be getting from these reply slips? Could it possibly be morally worth it?
I'm interested to hear of people's experiences as what I've read makes me concerned.
TIA

I was searching the wrong board for a thread!
Thanks for the link; it seems that that is fairly representative of what I've already read. Lots of parents have now complained to the school about the sales techniques so hopefully something will come of that. It made me extremely uneasy with respect to the "promotion" from the school, googling made me more uneasy and I was interested in the MSE take on it.They call me Dr Worm...
