sink blocked (intermittent)

Hi
so ive noticed recently that my bathroom sink water is not disappearing down the plug hole fast enough like it used to...but its intermittent which I find weird?
anyway, ive googled it and also read some old threads here and tried the usual (soda crystals, sink unblockers) etc and thought the best thing would be to undo the u bend and take it out and give it a clean...
the sink has no U bend? its a straight pipe? there is a section in the middle which I can see has nuts that can screw off but being behind a pedestal it maybe a bit akward...
my question really is ...is it worth trying to take this straight plastic pipe off or is there not much chance of anything being clogged up ? as its a straight pipe and its intermittent?
very tempted to buy caustic soda but don't want to melt the plastic pipe. (or my skin).
Thanks

It wont be just a straight pipe or you would be able to smell the subtle tones of your drains, most likely you will have an inline trap or pedestal trap http://www.screwfix.com/p/pedestal-trap-32-x-32mm/17119.
It might be a faf but undo it if you can and give it a good clean out, you can use caustic soda but you obviously need to be careful with the stuff, it doesn't get that hot it'll melt plastic btw. Wear suitable rubber gloves and goggles and wear something old.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
pour a bottle or two of cheap coke down the plughole & leave over night
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
