Married name and cheque problem
Comments
-
I work for a company that trades under a completely different name to the company's registered name. It also has traded under slightly different versions of its trading name at different times. As a result we can receive cheques from customers in as many as 8 different variations. The bank (Lloyds) started to get difficult about taking the cheques so the company completed a 'third party cheque indemnity' form on which we listed the possible name variations we might get and authorised the bank to accept cheques with any of those names.
Maybe your bank could do the same for you?Why should she have to do this rather than carrying on banking in her own name which she chose to do after marrying?
OP, in a similar situation, I spoke to my bank, they asked me to go in with my marriage certificate and they made a note on my account that I could pay in cheques made out to my married name. All very simple.
Sounds like you can do it then.0 -
Sounds like you can do it then.
So from that point of view nothing to gain but plenty to lose.0
