It quite clearly states: "YouGov, October 2013, Sample 4500 GB adults"
Maybe you should have read it?
Even among outright homeowners (those without
mortgages), more people want prices to stay the
same or fall than want them to rise (67% vs 28%).
http://www.allmediascotland.com/media-releases/55062/majority-of-scots-dont-back-house-price-rises-says-survey/The survey by You Gov found that 66 per cent – equivalent to 2,806,852 adults in Scotland – want house prices to remain the same or go down in value (1).
Meanwhile 64 per cent – equivalent to 2,721,796 adults in Scotland – think house prices in Britain are too high.0 -

When I said nobody, it was me. You accuse me of writing off the research, I proved I never did.
Feel free to drag another poster into it just to try to get yourself out of it if you like.
Let me repeat it again for you.
Don"t let your paranoia get the better of you.0 -

"When I said nobody, I didn't actually mean nobody, I meant me".
Stop muddling, be a man and try and understand when other people are educating you.0 -

So basically, even though you can see the full research, where the only word that references Scotland is the trademark, the research which states GB adults, and links to the yougov poll itself, you are relying on one of those journalists, journalists you've told me time and time again shouldn't be trusted? Not only that, but you rely on something which just literally refers to "the equivalent of X number in scotland" to state it was all scottish respondents? Put the gin down!
Barrel officially and truly scrapped.
Come on, why not talk about the actual research instead of looking for anything, no matter how dubious to write it off without even reading it?
I knew some people wouldn't like the results, but these responses take the buscuit.0 -
This thread is like watching a car crash.
Poor Graham...
Why does he embarrass himself...0 -
4500 GB adults can mean anything.
4500 out of 9000...
4500 college students...
4500 FTB....
Well here's where they try to bamboozle the public.YouGov poll for Shelter and Shelter Scotland, total sample size was 4,500 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 3rd – 9th October 2013. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults (aged 18+).
I take it that what they mean is select respondents for a certain age/sex/demographic profile that they believe is 'representative' of UK. BUt they forget that the whole House Buying process is totally different in Scotland and presumably attitudes are different.
Complete charlatons.
When they were helping tramps out of cardboard boxes into soup kitchens, maybe they had a place. Now they are just whinging griping lobbyists for the so-called 'poor' who are dripping with housing benefit but still envious of people who can and do sacrifice to buy their own homes.0 -
I've never seen a better example of confirmation bias than the responses on this thread....
I know it states something most of you won't like, but good lord. The lengths gone to to come up with reasons as to why it's basically toilet paper as it doesn't state "high prices are good" is astonishing.
Just about sums up this forum. There is no point in any alterior viewpoints, as it just ends up in a dribble fest. It's HPC in reverse.0 -
Suggest you check on the yougov website....
1) 32% want house prices to rise
2) 28% want house prices to fall
3) 30% want house prices to stay the same
4) 10% dont know
More people want house prices to rise than any other option.
Ignoring the dont knows, 69% of people dont want house prices to fall.
It seems G-Ds views are very much a minority.0 -
67% of people who earnt 50p to do a yougov poll want house rices to stay the same or fall.
You'd think it would be higher. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
