2 Stupid questions ...

1) .. Can i post my parcels in the normal post box..??!!

Sounds stupid i know but i have small parcels that just about fit through the gap where i normally would post only a letter..i have pre-paid for the items so they are all stamped and ready to go as they are won but had a thought which said am i meant to be posting these via an actual post office,if so what a nightmare!!

2) On a buy it now auction..if the quantities are running out,am i allowed to list more whilst the auction is still in progress?.. i had 100 items and listed just 40 to test the water but they seem to be moving and may well all sell..can i add to quantity available before they run out?

Sorry to be so dumb!

  • 1. Yes, but you'll have no proof of posting. let alone receipt if you do. Much better to go to the post office and get a certificate of posting (for free) or recorded delivery.

    2. No, once you have bids (or purchases) on an item you may not amend it.

    Hi Bubbles,

Personally i always take parcels to the post office if for no other reason that to get a receipt of posting - handy if a buyer says he hasn;t got the item.

I can't think of any reason why not? I'd go for it. Its not like you;re selling the same item twice?

First question-yes you cna put ready stamped items in a normal post box but I wouldn't recommend it. You have no proof of postage if you do, take them to the post office and get a COP.

Second question- AFAIK you can't increase the number of items on a dutch auction once you have sold any.

Anyway, there is no such thing as a daft question (I've asked a few in my time) although I might just post about a buyer I have who might make me rethink that statement!

  • Can you get a COP/receipt if the postage is already pre-paid?

Yes you can. Just take them to the post office as normal and explain they are already stamped and hand over the COP. My small post office always rechecks the weight to make sure the stamps are sufficient before stamping the COP. The main post office though just stamps the COP and hands it back having counted the parcels, half the time they don't even check the addresses match the COP.
