Moving home with the parents

Good Evening Ladies & Gents..

I have been offered a council house which is not ready until the end of january but unfortunately I have to be out of my rented place by the end of this month therefore my parents have kindly agreed to squish myself, my kids and dogs into theirs for a few months, my query is this. As a single mum with 2 young children I currently get housing benefit to help with my low income, does anyone know if I will still receive even a percentage of this whilst living back with my parents as I would like to contribute to their house costs as obviously they are going to be requiring help to cover the extra costs involved in having my brood and I move in but I do rely on all of the sources of income to cover my costs.
I have been offered temporary B&B accommodation but have declined this as with the kids and dogs I just could not face it for the next 3 months hence why my parents have stepped in.
Thanks in advance
Lyz

Good luck with all your moves. I don't think you would be entitled to HB as you will be living with family. If your parents are on HB their entitlement may be altered - they should certainly check. Whilst it will be a squeeze for you all presumably there will be savings on utilises etc. HB only covers rent so these costs could presumably be met out of your other sources of income.

Thanks for the reply, they arent on any benefits that I know of so hopefully it wont affect them in that way and I plan on contributing what I would pay for my bills just wondered how much else I could give to them as feeling kind of bad for them and the upheavel but bless them they are being as good as gold about it.
Do you know if it will affect my CTC & WTC as those are based on household incomes?
    Sorry for the queries
    Thanks again

Your tax credits won't be affected as for those purposes you are 2 seperate households.

You don't need housing benefit because you have no liability for rent but you can pay your parents something towards their gas/ electric/ food bills out of your other benefits.

their rent wont bec increasing and so they wont be out of poclet as far as that is concerned.
sonce you intent giving thrm as much as you alrady pay for utilities, id think that you will already be contributing more than you are costing, as it is far cheaper to provide utilities for 1 home with 3 occupants than it is for the dsme smount of people in 2 homes.
    good luck with your moves!
