Partial settlement??

Just called up one of the DCAs that I'm paying to ask them what discount they will give if i paid my debt in a lump sum (£2000) They said they would accept £1300 and that would show as 'partially settled' on my credit file. Does this look good or bad?? I want to apply for a mortgage in 2014/15 so I'm desperately trying to get everything up to scratch as best as I can.

If you want your credit file to look as good as it can I'd pay your outstanding debt in full.0

So there's no point in accepting a discount if its not gonna be a jot of help to me and my file! Why bother offering. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If your accounts have defaulted, then getting a mortgage will be an issue til they are gone from your file.
Partially settled is ok, just make sure you get it in writing and that they confirm the balance will be set to zero.:beer:0
