Website timeout problem with Firefox

I'm getting timed out on a couple of websites I use, like this one, where a login is required. I don't remember this ever happening with IE.

Does anyone have an idea how I can stop this? I have of explored the "tools" options and investigated through the Mozilla help site but can't find anything which relates to this particular issue.

That's not the only thing either. I cannot get Firefox to remember passwords on certain sites. Some are fine but on others, one in particular (banking), I have to type a very long number every time and it's a nuisance.

I know these are security features but this PC is installed in my study and is only used by me.

All help gratefully appreciated. :)

  • The banking one you might be stuck with as they may not let you have the browser remember it for security reasons.

The timeout issue is weird - have you tried clearing cache and cookies etc? Shortcut is ctrl + shift + del. Though you may get forgotten by other websites if you select too many of the boxes presented!

Otherwise I can just suggest turning it off and on again (yes really!) and checking that Firefox is up to date - which I think is in Help - About Firefox, but I'm stuck with a different browser atm and can't check!

    Hope that helps,

Thanks for the input. I've already tried all these things. What I'm trying to do is get the browser to perform the way IE8 did: it remembered my banking sign in name but not the passwords (two of them).

The timeout thing has me baffled.
  • Can't help with the time out problem, what version of Firefox do you have, Firefox 24.0 is the newest. Download Firefox extension InFormEnter to remember long bank account numbers.

    It's 24.0 I've got.

I'll try that InFormEnter. Thank you so much for suggesting it. I'll get back to you with the results. :)

InFormEnter is a very useful addition to Firefox. That has sorted me out. Thanks glosman555.

Just got to figure out the timeout problem now.
