Toshiba Laptop with b++++red BIOS

Hi Gang,

I'm normally pretty good with tech stuff, but I have a Toshiba laptop here which crashed during a BIOS update and I can't find out how to recover it!

There must be a way - It's an old but not ancient machine that was running XP.

I've seen some references to a "boot floppy" which is probably not an option, but if anyone knows a way to get it going please let me know!

    I've an old Ford car here, it still uses petrol. Can you help me get the fuel line unblocked?

    Yeah...useless without an exact model in order to check diagrams...

    If you can give a model number that would help.

    However normally the proceedure to recover from a bad flash is something along the lines of placing the correct bios file onto either a floppy disc, or a usb memory stick and starting the machine up.

    The exact method varies quite a lot, hence the need for the model number - some machines only require the bios be on the stick/disc, others require it to be named in a specific manner, or that you press a certain button during boot to initialise the bios recovery.

    But double check the bios is exactly the right one for your machine.
