Tomtom trouble with Ipaq2490

Hi. Just got my new ipaq during the week. Maps etc were loading fine until yestaerday. I reset my user details etc but have found that the sd card with maps is causing the ipaq to freeze! Advice please. This is using up all my brain power, and its not hard to use up! Seriously, I am finding the set up etc tricky... and the advice on the sites is very technical. Could anyone point me in the right direction for advice in plain english please?:confused:
